The Dead Time of the Year

This month I ramble about the lack of horror news around this time of year. So I am all over the place with topics! X-Files, Mortal Kombat X, Mad Max, Ash Vs Evil Dead, Silent Hills, Twin Peaks, Constantine, The Babadook, hell...I even bring up the darker side of Star Wars: The Force Awakens! All this plus some grand ole 20's & 30's Halloween tunes to get you through your non October work day.

TOP GAMES OF 2014!

This year has been an odd one for gaming (for me at least.) Usually I'm skipping around from game, to game, to game with so many different stories to embark on. But with the lack of creative titles this year, I've immersed myself in games like TitanFall, Destiny and GTAV: Online that just have over all fun multiplayer game play.

I just received a Wii U this Christmas, so I hope this brings more fun and creativity to my personal gaming realm. I've only had my hands on Smash Bros. for a short bit, but I can already feel the intensity I once felt with my last Nintendo console growing inside once again! I also look forward to some great PC titles in 2015, as I am really opening up my Steam collection these days.

1. TitanFall (Xbox One)
2. Super Smash Bros. (WiiU)
3. INfamous: Second Son (PS4)
4. The Evil Within (PS4)
5. Destiny (XBox One)
6. South Park: The Stick of Truth (XBox 360)
7. Alien: Isolation (PC)
8. Costume Quest 2 (PC)
9. Grand Theft Auto V (XBox One)
10. Wolf Among Us (PC)

TitanFall takes the cake for infusing me with the ultimate mech fantasy this year! Nothing beats jumping from roof top, to rooftop, onto your mech, just in time to rip off another mechs arms and beat him with them. Second Son was my favorite most "over all polished game" this year. I had zero complaints with it and enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would.
Sadly I did not get around to playing Sunset Overdrive, Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor, Dragon Age: Inquisition or Mario Kart 8, but you better believe they are on the radar when the sales next year hit!

BONUS:

Honorable Mention goes to Playstations playable trailer  P.T. for being one of the most realistic and terrifying horror gaming experiences I have ever had. I think I am looking forward to Silent Hills more than any other game in 2015!

Every Day is Halloween: Episode 2 with Kenny Caperton

It's August and Halloween is quickly on our heels. But Comic-Con International is now! Legendary Pictures announces more monsters, Ash is back to fight more deadites, Scream Factory has a slew of new releases; the list just goes on and on.

My guest this month is Kenny Caperton. Kenny owns a replica home based off Michael Myers humble abode from John Carpenter's classic Halloween. I catch up with Kenny and ask him what it's like to live in the iconic horror home as well as see how his new film Honey Spider is doing.

I also take a look at Scream Facory's re-release of Motel Hell and make sure to listen carefully to see how you can win a creepy item signed by William Shatner himself!

Super Smash Bros. - Wii U/3DS - Nintendo (Fall)

Once again the Xbox One steals the show again for me, proving once again it is the system that has the most games that I want to play.

Though Sony really stepped up their game at this years E3. I am on pins a needles in anticipation for The Order 1886! BloodBorne also looks like a lot of fun! I also like the idea of playing Farcry 4 with friends without even needing to buy the game (I was only into Blood Dragon.)

As for Nintendo; they stole the show. It was by far the best presentation. I may actually buy a Nintendo WiiU for The Legends of Zelda. An open world Skyrim type game set in the Zelda universe? "Just when I think I'm done, they pulllll me back in."

I must say that the independent games really wowed me this year as well! With games like Inside, Valiant Hearts, Ori, Night in the Woods and Costume Quest 2...who needs big budget games?

Below are a few videos from my top anticipated games. I hope you all enjoy and I hope to play with you guys real soon! I'm off to play some Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX+ Alpha!!!

Dead Rising 3 (Review)

I’ve been having so much fun with Dead Rising 3! Not only is it a great looking next-gen game, It’s a fantastic addition to the DR series. So many things have been fixed. You pretty much always have access to any of the badass combo weapons if you are near a safe zone. You can now always have a magazine selected on you all times and pick which one you want to use for whenever.
Xbox Glass is a great addition! Doing a mission where you need 5 food items? Just jump on your smart phone or tablet and select “food markets” and it will set a waypoint right to your game. You can even call in airstrikes…on your phone!

Hated all of Oti’s calls in the first game? Now your partner calls your actual phone or tablet (you can even set your wallpaper and ringtone) and he leaves voice mails so you can take them and do side quests on your time.
Not to mention the slew of new frightening Psychopaths to fight! Ridiculous outfits! A ton of new weapon combo cards! Oh and now you can  COMBINING VEHICLES to mow down miles of the undead! (Yes, some do deploy 10ft long chainsaw blades out the sides with just the tap of a trigger button)

I think it’s safe to say this ones staying in the system for a while.
